Maddie AKA Madison (Deceased)

I got Maddie almost 4 years ago from someone who could no longer keep her.  She is one of the best behaved dog I’ve had.  I can let her out without a leash and she never goes far. She is a wire-haired Terrier.  She will be 13 this year.  Starting to show signs of aging.  Started having trouble with hind legs so I got her doggy steps to help her get on the bed.  She seems to like men and children the most but she is never far from me. I think she senses I am sick.

Maddie passed away January 19, 2021.  Found her in my bathroom, where she never goes – would lay on the floor nearby – with her head laying on some clothes I had left on the bathroom floor.  Like she could smell me.  No idea for sure why. She seemed fine the night before other than panting hard from going outside. I had her cremated. The vet office made a paw print plaque that I have hanging on my wall.

Keesha (deceased)

December 2005 – Keesha is a Keshound and is now 12 years old.

May 30, 2008 – She is now 14 and starting to show her age. Her hearing isn’t good and she has cataracts on her eyes. She doesn’t jump up on the couch or my bed any more as I think she might have arthritis in her hind legs. She’s never very far from me when I’m home. Lately, she’s been falling down (or up) the steps of the porch because she thinks she’s still young and gets excited about going outside or coming back in.

August 2008.  Today was not a good day. I finally made the decision to put my dog to sleep. It is never an easy decision to make but I know she was suffering. I had her for 15 good years. Even though it took awhile to housebreak her and she was such a hyper young thing, she turned out to be a really good dog. I’ll miss her very much. I have no plans on getting another dog as it’s too hard and emotional to lose them.

Tippy (deceased)

Tippy was a dog we got from Lourene. One day, he and Nayt went across the street to see Mary. Mary didn’t want him there so she chased him back home. At the same time a car was going by and hit him. Nayt saw the whole thing. Nayt, do you remember how old you were? I guess Tippy still ran home but by the time Nayt got to him, he was taking his final breath and wagged his tail a couple times as if to say good-bye.

Cocoa (deceased)

A small dog I got from Terry. Part terrier. Nice dog. One day Mickie was visiting and Cocoa got out. When she left, she came back to let me know Cocoa got hit by the school bus down at the corner. I felt so bad. Took a long time before I told Terry.

Cassie (deceased)

Part toy poodle, part terrier. Got her from Cheryl. Normal weight of 4lbs. But she was 10lbs when she was put to sleep (January 2004). Not because she over ate, just because her health was failing. Very lovable dog.

Cutie Pie (deceased)

One day Cutie Pie decided to take her litter of 3 or 4 for a walk. They were gone nine days. I put an ad in the paper and someone actually spotted them about a mile and a half away. They all came home safe and sound.

Hooter (deceased)

What can I say about Hooter. I swear he had 9 lives – well, 3 anyways. Almost died as a pup from being left behind from litter in tall, cold weeds. Nursed him back with heating pad and blankets. Then got hit by car – broke front right leg. Survived ice storm of 1987 (?) all by his self. Then Jeff decided he had to stay outside tied to chain and choker collar which became embedded in his neck. Then one day, Jeff told me Hooter got loose and we never saw him again. Well, needless to say, Jeff admitted to me several years later that he took Hooter out to the woods and shot him.
